David’s work combines the mythology of images and semiotics; in a practice which includes drawing, painting, and book making. By codifying mythologies, such as Babylon, David expresses the limitless connotations of the mediation of Man. David is a freelance artist making a continual body of stuff. His work has been applied to a variety of contexts, including illustration, graphic design and theatre set design. Clients include Chicken Shed Theatre Company and The British Council. David is resident artists and curator at Nowhere North Gallery. “...somewhere between the representation of a thing, and the thing itself. I am interested in double meanings and contradictions. I often work directly onto objects I find, therefore I am not always in full control of what I make, this is very important to me, and I see this as a dialogue between myself and the ever changing environment around me. ” (David S.)
